SUSANNE’S SALON AT MAMA JANE’S

Mama Jane describes “Susanne’s Salon” as the best salon in Arusha. It is dedicated to Susanne Healy and it looks out over Healy Field named in memory of her son, Ed.  We finished the salon during our visit in 2018. We hired an instructor to teach the girls how to cut, style and braid hair. We restocked it and refreshed it during our visit in 2019. In 2023, Susanne’s Salon was as busy as ever and some of our travelers even took time to get their hair braided (pictured below). Deb Hines from Salon by Kenneth in Baltimore continues sending suitcases of supplies every time we travel. She fills all of Mama Jane’s needs.  The girls continue to learn skills that will enable them to generate income.
