SHADES OF HOPE ACADEMY

Shades of Hope Academy was founded in 2017 by Steve Appell. What started as a small community school has grown to a school that now has over 400 students, 90 of which live there full time. In 2019 we funded Sara’s Kitchen, Scotty’s Watering Hole (The Boddicker-Charipar Lenten Project) and Healy Field.

In 2020, Scott’s Legacy funded the second phase of the construction of the new school that included the second Sara’s Kitchen. We continue to provide scholarships to the 11 original children living at the school. These donor families receive photos and have contact with the children throughout the year.  These children just want a family.  They clutched the photos and gifts that we brought from their families knowing that they are loved.  We also provide quarterly funds to celebrate their birthdays. An education is the only way these orphaned children will break the cycle of poverty.

In 2023, we visited Shades of Hope bringing them toys to restock Connor’s Toy Box, sporting equipment and school supplies. We gave them funds to prepare meals at Sara’s Kitchen. Each of the 400 children received an outreach bag (toothbrush, toothpaste, pencils, erasers, sharpeners, etc.). Those living at Shades of Hope received a SWLF drawstring bag with gifts and a t-shirt.
