OUR PARTNERS

KUNDAEL MOLLA

Scott’s Legacy could not do anything without the help and expertise of Kundael Molla and his wife Jackie.  We met their daughter Gia for the first time during our visit and can’t wait to meet their second baby due in May 2024.   Kundael gets multiple bids, identifies, and meets with local charities, watches over our programs and is the face of Scott’s Legacy in Tanzania.  Kundael (aka “The Director”) owns Bushwide African Safaris.

IN-TIME SHIPPING

After being told that goods shipped to Africa rarely make it to their destination, we met David Bransfield and Luis Orellana of In-Time Shipping.  Not only did they donate their services, but they coordinated the shipment of two pallets of supplies.  Everything arrived safely and in perfect condition. This was a game-changer for Scott’s Legacy as we are no longer limited to the supplies we can carry with us.  Their kindness and expertise change the lives of so many children living in poverty in Africa.

DR. JAMES LACE

Dr. Lace is a pediatrician in Salem Oregon. His foundation, the Yatima Group, provides funding and hands-on medical help for the most vulnerable people in Africa. Whenever we reach out, he is usually in Tanzania, on his way to Tanzania or just getting back from Tanzania. We appreciate his help, guidance and support.

COMMUNITY FOUNDATION OF HARFORD COUNTY

Jennifer Farrell and the Community Foundation of Harford County, Maryland have been a great partner in helping us navigate the intricacies of handling donations including stock contributions.

TRAVELERS - MAY 2019

In May 2019, a team of 17 volunteers traveled to Tanzania to change the lives of orphaned and vulnerable children in Tanzania. Instead, these children profoundly changed the lives of these volunteers. Many of the team started as strangers but all returned as family. The team included: Kimberly Dewalt (Scott’s Aunt), Susie Azevedo (Scott’s Aunt), Tommy Azevedo (Scott’s Uncle), Luke Azevedo (Scott’s cousin), Carmela Hladki, Susan Skiles, Acadia Lankford, Patricia Woodard, Tina Fiorelli and her son Nick, Becky Moghadaspour, Marylee McCusker and her daughters Catherine and Bridget, Scott’s Aunt, Diane Hock and his parents Kate & John Willis.

This team delivered Beau’s Bundles and Connor’s Toy Boxes throughout Tanzania. At Mama Jane’s the team built Pop’s Pantry, Micah’s Chicken Coop, Butler’s Bunkhouse, Mike Squared Sports and Eileen’s Sewing Spot. Sara’s Kitchen, Susanne’s Salon and Helen’s Closet were completed from a previous trip. Murals for Scott’s Courtyard and Wyatt’s Garden were painted. Shoes that Grow were distributed. Outreach bags were packed and delivered to thousands of children. The team worked hard during the day and laughed and bonded each night.

Macha, drove the bus the team named “Jambolopy” throughout their travels. They sang with the children at Shades of Hope and Mama Jane’s, and ate goat and other Africa delicacies. They made life long friends and memories.

TRAVELERS 2023

Because of travel restrictions due to Covid, SWLF was unable to travel back to Africa until it was safe to do so. In May 2023, a team of 14 traveled with an ambitious plan to provide supplies and outreach to children in Tanzania, Zimbabwe and Zambia. After a rainy start that included getting the Jambolopy bus stuck in mud, the team visited the children and Shades of Hope School and Mama Jane’s where they attended a church service that included a music program performed by the children. For the next several days, the team packed and distributed outreach supplies, Shoes that Grow, Connor’s Toy Boxes and Beau’s Bundles throughout Tanzania.

After an overnight stop in Zimbabwe to see Victoria Falls and provide outreach to Rose of Charity Orphanage, the team traveled to Mazabuka, Zambia to visit Flamboyant Special Needs School to dedicate a bus, Jenn Lake and to see the programs they funded including, Karen’s Playpark, Scotty’s Garden and Fenny’s House. SWLF has provided uniforms, chickens, a Connor’s Toy Box, a Delilah’s Music Box and funds for food as well. The team met the children, conducted a fishing competition, danced and distributed Shoes that Grow, sports equipment, SWLF tee Shirts and drawstring bags filled with supplies for each student. The team team included 7 volunteers that had previously traveled to Africa in 2019 (Kim, Becky, Nick, Kate, Diane, Susan and Acadia). Seven new travelers included Lynda Mules, Lisa Boddicker, Brent Baucom, Lauren Klouw, Suzanna Singleton, Megan Tress and Ellis Lankford.
