Mural at Mama Jane’s Orphanage

Children enjoying Hayden’s Playground

Hayden, is Scott’s youngest son. He was always the first kid out the door to play and the one asking to go to the playground. When we saw the need for a playground for the children at Mama Jane’s, we knew immediately we would create “Hayden’s Playground” in Scott’s son’s honor.

In May 2023, Hayden’s Playground at Mama Jane’s was completely rebuilt with see saws, monkey bars, swing sets, slides, merry-go-rounds and a trampoline. With the exception of the trampoline, all of the equipment was made by a local craftsman and it will last for years to come. As you can see in the video below, all of the children are enjoying Hayden’s Playground. Our volunteers had tears in their eyes watching Bright, a blind child, jump up and down on the trampoline. His laughter was pure joy.

An African artist painted a beautiful mural along the walls surrounding the playground with “Hayden’s Playground” and the Scott Willis Legacy Foundation logo.

What a perfect way for Hayden to share his life with Tanzanian children while participating in his Daddy’s legacy along with his brother. We will be building our second Hayden’s Playground at NASA Nursery School in the Mapao, Mapya Village in Spring 2024. It is our hope that a “Hayden’s Playground” will be at every orphanage we support.
